Lynette Gonyou

Salesperson, REALTOR®

I never planned to be a Realtor.  It was never my dream.  And if I’m being honest, after getting a degree in Political Science, having my 3 kids, and working in the sales industry, getting into real estate wasn’t even on my radar.

But then life suddenly took a u-turn and changed everything.  Covid came roaring into our lives and life as I knew it stopped.  The busyness of work, kids activities and socializing with friends and family disappeared.  It was all eerily quiet with a stillness I hadn’t experienced in years.  It was then that the talents I had acquired as a young child, that had been laying dormant for many years resurfaced.  And I found an avenue for opportunity and growth that I had never considered.

Rewind just a few years to when I was a little girl.  I grew up in a small rural community just north east of London, ON.  Cell phones and internet had not been invented yet.  (I may be dating myself a bit). The cable company had yet to figure out how to deliver decent television outside of the city. And we were bored.

My very talented and creative mother made the most of rainy days and long summers by teaching me the lost art of knitting and sewing.  We spent many hours together embroidering, making crafts and taking sewing lessons.  This time I spent with my mother was invaluable.  Not for just the skills she taught me. But the time and memories we have had together has been such a gift.

Now what does this have to do with real estate?  Over the years I have added more creative skills to my roster.  I developed a mindset that I could make or create almost anything.  If I wanted new furniture, I would buy used furniture and upcycle it.  If I wanted to redo my kitchen, I would strip, sand and repaint my kitchen cupboards.  The sky was the limit.

At the start of Covid, real estate was on an upswing and time was in excess for me.  It was then I realized that I could capitalize on this new environment that we were living in and put my skills to use.  So I bought my first investment property.  I gutted it, renovated it, and then sold it.  It was a lot of work but I loved almost every second of it.  And then I bought another property and did it all again.

I didn’t become a real estate agent because I just wanted to buy and sell houses for other people.  I did it because I fell in love with it.  The creativity.  The individuality.  The purpose.  I fell in love with the process from beginning to end.  I am very proud of my accomplishments.  And what I’ve done for myself I can do for you too.

The many life experiences I have had have shown me that your home can be a blessing or a curse.  And what you love today may not work for you tomorrow.  It is through these life lessons and industry experience that I am able to serve the community of London that I love and strive to seek out a home that reflects your individuality and also presents its needed purpose for you.
